QUESTIONS TO ASK
and
MY ADVICE

  • Everyone’s a “natural light” photographer, until there’s no light, LOL.

I’ve been mixing natural and artificial light both on location and in the studio for over 15 years.

I am very skilled and known for producing the “natural light” look without it. Most of my portraits and branding work have some combination of both.

Beware the “natural light only!” photographer who runs out of options when the sun doesn’t cooperate, leaving you with sad emoji face.

  • Most definitely. I have over a million dollar liability policy and can provide COI for any venue which requires it.

  • Yes, I’ve done a lot of music and celebrity photography over my career in NYC, and even though I moved to Indiana, I still do!

However, I have always photographed weddings. My first was in the early 2000s, and since then I’ve done weddings with under 25 guests and over 300. I’m an experienced photographer in just about all situations that you can imagine, which gives me a incredible technical skill along with flexibility and calmness in my approach.

  • Every wedding photographer says “WILL TRAVEL!” but truly, few will ever shoot a destination wedding.

I have travelled the world over for my photography and am experienced in the meticulous planning that goes into a successful location shoot. Researching venues, locations, transportation, I’ve done it all, and provide a calm presence in the center of chaos to bring your lovely plan to life.

  • For most wedding photographers, the answer to this question is:

    “As many as I can!”

I am different. My goal is not to do 75 weddings a year, or even 25. I find that when a photographer does a large number of weddings, or multiple weddings in a weekend, the quality of the work suffers.

I limit myself to 12 bookings a year.

    That’s it. Twelve.

    Never two in one weekend.

    When I’m booked up, I’m
    booked up.

  • I can pencil it in for 48 hours, but because I limit my bookings to 12 a year, that’s the best I can do. If another client contacts me about the same date, I will contact you and give you first refusal.

A signed contract with all the details (provided by me) and a
non-refundable retainer, which is 40% of your total cost, will hold
    the date.

  • Yes, of course, don’t be silly.
$400 engagement sessions are one hour and are discounted 50% if you have signed a wedding contract with me. Edited images are delivered to you via a secure personal online gallery with full printing and sharing rights.

Book my top package and the engagement session is on me!

  • Yes, I only do 12 full weddings a year.

    Book early.

Elopements/City Hall type weddings not included. Contact me for info.

  • If the guest list is under 100 and the entire wedding occurs in one location, I will be the only photographer.

City Hall weddings/elopements I will be the only photographer.

See Wedding Pricing for other information.

  • We will examine the details of your day to make sure you have the appropriate coverage. Of course, if things change during the day, coverage can be extended in one hour increments at the price noted in your contract.

  • When you work with me, you will get an exclusive “sneak peek” of 5-10 shots the DAY AFTER the wedding, suitable for Instagram and sending out to the world. No horrible dark grainy cell-phone pics! Yay!

    No one does this.

You will receive the processed gallery of all the selects (200-500 images) within four weeks of the ceremony, usually less. I don’t believe in taking 6-8 weeks to deliver photos. If your package includes an album, expect it between 6-10 weeks from the ceremony, usually dependent on the printer. I design all of my own albums, no outsourcing to China.

  • This isn’t 1985, I’m not going to hold your images hostage like the old days. Your pictures will come with full ownership rights for sharing, publishing, and printing at the lab of your choice.

To make it easy, though, I will provide professional lab printing options, handled completely online, for ridiculously reasonable prices.

  • I am a Canon shooter, currently shooting with Canon R5 and “L” lenses, and I use Profoto lighting gear. I have also been known to throw some film cameras into the mix.

  • I contract out with some exceptional videographers to complete the whole shebang. I will refer you and you will contact them directly, no crazy markups here!

  • Yep! Start clearing out the conference room…I’ll be there early! I’ve done over 400 quality headshots in two mornings. The key is organization and execution.

  • Awesome!

    You are my best customer.

I have a reputation for making portraits fun, rewarding, and easy. I have actually given seminars on the subject, and by photographing literally thousands of celebrities (some easier than others, ask me about Tommy Lee Jones) I have developed techniques to make the experience as fun as picking out your ice cream flavor at Baskin-Robbins.

I jest, but only a little!

  • Yep, and also your rooftop, private jet, houseboat, bank vault, penthouse suite, automotive dealership, and other places. You name it, I can do it.

  • You bet your diploma I do, and get ready, because your friends will be jealous.

    And before you ask:
